SINOPSIS: Madrid, agosto de 2011. La ciudad es un caos. Por si no fuera poco con el calor asfixiante, las calles de la capital están invadidas por el millón de peregrinos que han acudido a ver al Papa Benedicto XVI, y además están los ciudadanos que se han movilizado con el movimiento 15-M.
En mitad de este Madrid de pesadilla, alguien está asesinando a señoras mayores. Los encargados de investigar el caso son Velarde (Antonio de la Torre) y Alfaro (Roberto Álamo), dos policías algo disfuncionales, el primero tartamudo y el segundo con ciertos problemas de control de la ira. Los dos policías deberán atrapar a este asesino en serie, y hacerlo de manera discreta. Pero la presión y la carrera contra reloj les hará darse cuenta de una verdad terrible: quizá ninguno de los dos es tan distinto del criminal al que persiguen.
Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Stockholm) dirige este thriller policíaco que ha co-escrito junto a Isabel Peña (Frágiles). Antonio de la Torre (Tarde para la ira, La isla mínima) y Roberto Álamo (Incidencias, La Piel que Habito) encabezan un reparto en el que también encontramos a Mónica López (Carlos, Rey Emperador), Ciro Miró (Nadie quiere la noche), Raúl Prieto (Nos veremos en el infierno) y María Ballesteros (De chica en chica).

«Dios tiene que ver poco con lo que hacen, deciden y sufren los personajes del filme de Rodrigo Sorogoyen, tanto el violador y asesino de ancianas como los dos agentes de policía que deben darle caza, así que ni Dios ni nadie va a perdonarles sus actos y las consecuencias que estos tienen.
Dios está presente en off, con la visita papal a Madrid, un apunte de situación antes que un escenario concreto. Dios y su ausencia, porque nadie cree en él, al menos los que desfilan por la pantalla, y es difícil que crean una vez se baja el telón del drama. Madrid, agosto, muchísimo calor, la ciudad en alerta por la visita del Papa, el violador que campa a sus anchas. Nada como dos seres asociales y obsesivos, a su manera, para perseguir a un homicida obsesivo, sanguinario y ritual.
Alberto de la Torre y Roberto Álamo encarnan a una de las parejas habituales del policíaco basado en la dualidad de las buddy movies. Pero aquí no hay tiempo ni espacio para el apunte cómico. Uno es especialmente violento, individualista, sumido en el caos permanente de una vida que no desea. El otro es introvertido, solitario, atenazado por una existencia gris que no quiere llevar. Menuda pareja para capturar a un tipo que disfruta violando mujeres ancianas antes de matarlas.
La peripecia estrictamente policial va sucediéndose a la par que conocemos más cosas de los dos inspectores y aquello que empieza a unirles: la nada, la confusión, ser en el fondo quien no se quiere ser,la escasa capacidad que tienen ambos para relacionarse con los demás, bien con una familia tradicional, bien con los lances esquivos de una sexualidad abrupta y timorata. Un relato sórdido antes que escabroso.
La trama tiene su desenlace y sabremos quien es el agresor, y sus motivos, pero no resulta lo más importante de la película. QUE DIOS NOS PERDONE es, como muchas novelas negras de la edad de oro y muchos film noir clásicos de los años cuarenta y cincuenta, un relato-itinerario, un mosaico antes que una peripecia. Sabemos que habrá un final, más conmovedor o aciago, más limpio o sucio, pero lo que queda es lo vivido por estos dos personajes atípicos, contradictorios, inestables e incapaces de ser lo que la sociedad demanda que sea.
A favor: si De la Torre está bien, aunque lo hemos visto en un registro similar, Álamo completa un personaje arisco y antipático.
En contra: la pérdida de intensidad en los últimos veinte minutos, cuando la historia se “aclara”.»
